Ladies, you cannot miss this.Seriously, you can’t. It’s too bright. This season’s color code is…pink. No, we’re not coming off a Valentine’s Day candy binge.
Despite it’s baby girl connotations, pink is turning up in a way bolder palette these days than you’d think, and is popping up for spring in pantsuits, shorts, column dresses, platform heels, handbags, coats and the rest of the fashion fold. Plus, it’s a great way to warm things up in a dreary winter.
Among the hottest hues, no pun intended, are rich, deep pinks, as well as bright shades of the color, though whisper-light shades at the other end of the spectrum are also in vogue -- especially when it comes to handbags.
The trend is a head-turner for spring, and one that encourages the wearer to be playful when it comes to color – a welcome change from the slew neutrals we saw walking the streets last fall. With a color like pink, though, you have to exercise caution.
Streamlined looks are the best to prevent an overly frou-frou appearance, and definitely pair the bolder shades with blacks, whites and other basics to keep the color from overwhelming your entire ensemble. Also, steer clear of the neon shades. For all practical purposes, they’re too much to pull off, and will be a glaring addition to your wardrobe (in a bad way).
The best way to work the rosy tone is to stick to tasteful cuts and silhouettes. A top that shows too much cleavage, or a skirt that’s too short, for example, could make you look like an, um, attention-seeking type – definitely not becoming of you stylish ladies.
So shake off the winter blues, and go get pretty in pink!
