SuperMall brings Spirit of the Northwest to Children’s Soft Play Area
Auburn, WA (January 16, 2008) – SuperMall is constructing a one-of-a-kind children’s soft play area in the mall’s Aviation Court called “Doxon Playland” and will hold the grand opening celebration from 10am to 12pm on Saturday, January 19, 2008.
A soft play area is an indoor playground constructed of soft foam material that is suitable for children 44” tall or less to play on. The SuperMall’s previous play area, constructed in 2002, has since been removed and construction on the new play area is currently under way. The new play area has been custom designed exclusively for the SuperMall and will comprise approximately 1,000 square feet of space.
The play area will feature elements of the Pacific Northwest including a 12-foot evergreen tree with a slide and tunnel, a “White River” bridge that children can crawl over or under, a salmon climbing piece and a replica of Mt. Rainier that children can crawl over or through. There will also be a Toyota 4-Runner element and a Toyota Tundra element, which reflect the play area’s sponsor, Doxon Toyota Scion of Auburn.
As part of the play area sponsorship, the Doxon logo will be featured on a sign at the top of the evergreen tree, on the trucks’ license plates, and on several locations around the perimeter of the play area. “When the opportunity came to support the SuperMall with a new play area, I thought it was a perfect way for our family to say thank you to those who have supported our business over the past 70 years in Auburn,” said Mark Doxon, Owner and General Manager of Doxon Toyota Scion of Auburn.
Other amenities include several play panels, shoe keepers, trash receptacles and parent seating. The play area was designed, manufactured and is being installed by PLAYTIME of Denver, Colorado who specializes in playgrounds for indoor, outdoor and water park applications.
Doxon Playland will open with an official event-celebration starting at 10am on Saturday, January 19, 2008. The event, hosted by Radio Disney, will feature music, games, prizes and a ribbon cutting ceremony at 10:15am. The first 250 children to bring a non-perishable food donation will receive a surprise gift from the SuperMall. All food will be donated to the Auburn Food Bank who will be on site during the event. The first 500 children in attendance will receive a goody bag from the SuperMall.
“This new play area captures the beauty of the Pacific Northwest,” said SuperMall General Manager Bruce Goldsberry. “This is going to be a wonderful addition to our property. Everyone is so excited; this is so much more fun than what we’ve offered in the past.”
